The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Paul Mashatile will conduct the sod turning ceremony for the establishment of Nwamitwa Cultural Village and Museum. The cultural village is aimed at preserving and promoting the culture of the Valoyi Community in particular and the VaTsonga in general. The Council of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality has taken a resolution to suspend the Municipal Manager Mr. Masiye Mankabidi during the 5th Special Council Meeting for 2014 held of the 4th of April 2014 at the Council Chambers in the Civic Centre. The Municipal Manager has been suspended pending the institution of an investigation against him as per regulations governing disciplinary procedure senior managers. Continue reading

The Greater Tzaneen Municipality has leant with dismay of a job scam by some ruthless thugs who masquerade as representatives of the municipality. These criminals approach unsuspecting desperate job seekers with promises of employment in the municipality. They demand an upfront fee from the job seeker, either to be deposited in a bank account or paid in cash. The criminals also provide a cellphone number which is either switched off or ring unanswered. These fraudsters use several aliases; one of them is Godfrey Modau. In specific cases these persons posses information pertaining to a job that you might have applied for. We have put in place measures to avoid leak of information about applicants. Continue reading
Mayor Dikeledi Mmetle launched a multi-million rand electricity project in Lekgwareng, Lwandlamuni and Mbekwani Villages. The project which will see a combined 778 households connected to electricity by the end of August 2013 was officially handed over to the community and contractor in a small ceremony attended by over 200 people in Lekgwareng Village on Sunday, 9 June 2013. The Greater Tzaneen Municipality was on Friday, 28th of June 2013 crowned the winner of the 2013 Greenest Municipality Competition at Marianhill Landfill Site in Durban. The Award which was announced by Water and Environmental Affairs Deputy Minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi goes with a R3.5 million prize money which must be utilised for projects that promote environment related projects and green economy initiatives.
